Working as a creative at an agency for digital brand management, most of my days are spent handling things concerning the digital sphere. I have a passion for the digital, created my first webpage when I was 17 and have an unnatural attachment to my iPhone.

Yet, I start to realize that especially in my free time I tend cling on to the analogue. I love books, I love how you can trace the reading process by just taking a look at the book itself. I make little notes in them and mark pages with words I enjoyed the most with dog-ears. I do own and cherish a very small collection of records, tapes, as well as analoge cameras. I love notebooks and stationary. I will never be able to coherently organise my to dos in one of the many apps provided out there. I love collecting small things, keepsakes, souvenirs, magazines.

This is why from time to time I will present you a little collection of the non-digital things I currently like and tell you the stories behind them.

1. Do your Homework pencil case by Present & Correct via Human Empire. Long gone the are days I went to school. I always spent a certain amount of my pocket money on stationary. Pens, paper, notebooks, they used to pile up in the drawers of my desk at home. Sometimes I liked them so much, that I did not dare using them. Today I believe that even with the possibilities of taking down notes on any mobile device that you might carry around with you, it is important to have pens and paper at hand. So this little pencil case holds a small notebook and some pens by Muji, alongside my business cards. I love how the leather is slowly showing marks from using it, complementing the beautiful embossed graphics that remind me of old class-rooms and hours spent learning to draw the alphabet.

2. Lavender & a picture of my Mom. Last weekend my parents came to visit and after reading a story in the blog, my Mom decided to get me a huge bush of Lavender. The whole living rooms smells like the Provence. It’s lovely. The picture shows my Mom as a little girl sitting on a bench in some relatives garden holding a black poodle and squinting into the camera – it’s my favorite picture of her.

3. Black & Gold Bracelet. This is a hand-down from my mother – most of the jewelry I wear is. I think she bought it when she was a young girl and somehow it ended up in my possession. I love it for being so timeless and simple. Thanks Mom!

4. Kinfolk Magazine. I guess I don’t have to say much about Kinfolk Magazine anymore. If I could choose a magazine to live in, this would be it. The stories about days at the lake, the woods, Brooklyn in the early morning or the wonderful recipes I am dying to try out. It makes me miss summer a lot. Now we have to keep waiting for it to kick back in soon. Keep your fingers crossed for a sunny August and a warm September, maybe there is even a golden October in store for us. I’ll stay optimistic.
