Happy World Pizza Day!

Who does not love Pizza? Most of the times I make freestyle pizza. Just a regular yeast dough with tomato sauce and assorted toppings like vegetables, salami, mushrooms and lots of mozzarella and parmesan. But for this special day, I thought I’d compile a short post featuring five delicious pizza recipes. Preheat the oven and enjoy!

1. Roberta’s Perfect Pizza Dough

On my trip to New York back in 2011, my Airbnb in Bushwick was really close to a pizzeria called Roberta’s. I went there more than once and enjoyed their pizza. I am obviously not the only one, who really liked it – many hail Roberta’s as the best pizzeria in Brooklyn or even New York. Together with the New York Times, they made a video showing how to make the perfect pizza dough at home.

2. Zucchini & Feta Pizza with Fresh Mint and Preserved Lemon by Molly Yeh

I already mentioned this recipe for Zucchini & Feta Pizza by Molly Yeh in my blog post about preserving lemons and this pizza is definitely one of the best things to put those salty lemon zests to use. With fresh mint and feta, it’s a very summery dish, but I am sure it’s equally great in winter.

3. Smoked Mozzarella & Salsiccia Pizza by Nigel Slater

No recipe collection without mentioning my favourite food writer, Nigel Slater. I never tried smoked mozzarella, but it definitely sounds like a great idea. Find this and more of his pizza recipes on the website of the Guardian.

4. Sourdough Salad Pizza by My New Roots

Has someone uttered the word ‘sourdough’? If I ever succeed in making my own sourdough, this Salad pizza by My New Roots will be one of the first things I will bake! It just looks divine and it’s probably also the healthiest pizza on this list.

5. Mediterranean Tart with Polenta Base by Krautkopf

Then there is always my favourite deviation from Pizza: Polenta Tart. This recipe for a Mediterranean tart using a Polenta Base sounds splendid.
