Friday Edit #7

Happy Friday to you. I hope you have a great weekend ahead of you. I have no plans for the next two days whatsoever and it does feel pretty great. Here are some links and things from the past two (!) weeks I found worth sharing. Enjoy!

Give me blue skies & summer sun!

Winter Cold, Summer Dreams and A Trip to the Mountains

February feels like the longest month. Zurich is hidden underneath a grey curtain of fog and clouds. Towards the end of the week, the temperatures dropped dramatically – and will even more so next week. Due to the change of weather, my head hurt for most of the week and I started to really long for summer. So, I spent the evenings looking at old blog posts from sunnier days, like the one about our trip to Tuscany last year.

Even during the past weekend in the mountains, there were lots of clouds. But it was nice anyway. We headed to Verbier to watch rich people. The rest of the time hung out with friends at a decent Swiss chalet. I also played Jenga for the first time in my life and I did not suck as much as I think I would.

Marlena, Our Love, Everything Sucks!

Images via Amazon, Netflix and Sharon van Etten.

Finished reading Marlena by Julie Bunting, a very interesting and engaging read about life and the opiate crisis in rural parts of the US. You can learn more about the book in this interview the author.

Our Love by Sharon van Etten is the one song I had in my head for most of the week.

This week I also binged “Everything Sucks!” – a movie about a bunch of school kids in the 1990s. Its very cliche, but it is fun to watch. You can find it on Netflix and I believe it’s perfect for a cold and grey Saturday afternoon.

A Very Merry Calendar, The Perfect Facial Toner, Beef Stroganoff

If I would not suck at keeping up with any daily calendar I would love to own the Very Merry Everyday Calendar. It illustrates on obscure holiday or annual celebration per day, like the pastrami sandwich day or national drinking straw day – found via Kinfolk Magazine.

I discovered this facial toner by Dr Hauschka and instantly fell in love with its smell and texture. It will definitely become a new staple in my bathroom.

Beef Stroganoff is one of those dishes my mom cooked quite often when I was a kid. Quite recently she showed me how to do it. If you want to try out this perfect winter dish you can find a recipe for Beef Stroganoff on the blog of Eat Little Bird.

The House from “Call Me By Your Name” and Something Funny

Images from the Set of “Call Me By Your Name” via Architectural Digest.

I have yet to see “Call Me By Your Name” but movies by Luca Guadagnino are becoming an obsession of mine – he also made A Bigger Splash and I am Love. If you read my last Friday Edits you will know that I loved these two movies. Apart from great storylines, photography and actors, all of Guadagnino’s movies star a beautiful building: I am Love it is set in Villa Necchi in Milan that I already visited twice, A Bigger  Splash I set in a beautiful Dammuso on an island which we will be visiting in June. And now, the house from “Call Me By Your Name” in northern Italy is up for sale. It’s a dream …

Christowski is a designer, illustrator and writer. He also makes some of the best Instagram stories. This tutorial he published last week is super funny. Go watch it in his highlights on the app and do follow this guy.

And now, have a great weekend. Stay warm and cosy, ok?
