While waiting for the winter to leave, we take walks through Berlin’s empty parks. Our finger tips are frozen when take pictures of the first willow catkins and we observe the deer grazing through last year’s autumn leaves. 4 days until the beginning of spring. 15 days until Easter. I am counting the days.

Christer Strömholm Retrospektive . C/O Berlin

A young couple in a Parisian café in the 1960s and a portrait of Le Cobusier. These werde my two favorites in the very stunning Christer Strömholm Retrospektive at C/O Berlin. It’s the last exhibition hosted in the old Postfuhramt, a place I always loved to visit to see some great photographs while moving through rooms breathing old Berlin history. I will miss the building dearly and their move breaks my heart. You will still have the chance to see the exhibit and pay the building a last visit till the 8th of March, before it will be renovated and repurposed. C/O Berlin will reopen at their new location, the Amerika Haus, in autumn 2013.

Spring.

Posted on February 24th, 2013

The last Sunday in February. Outside the snow is falling and I can’t wait for spring. The tickle of the sun on the face, the blossoms of the magnolias and cherry trees. Long walks with the camera, the buttons of my jacket open, a light scarf around the neck. It must be one of my favorite seasons here in Berlin: When the warmth of the sun still feels new and the heart starts beating a little faster when, while waking up in the morning, you realize the sun is already up and awake, waiting for you to start the day. Suddenly it won’t be dark outside when leaving the office and the evening will invite you for white wine or refreshing spring time drinks.

To make time go by faster, I look through old pictures from those two past springs here in Berlin. They confirm my hopes: Spring is going to be here soon. He’s is already impatiently waiting to take us by its hand on long Sunday walks. Not long now! Don’t let the snow fool you!

Home.

Some pictures I took in the weeks after returning back to Berlin. I did miss home a little bit, too. All of these were taken with a Minolta SR-T 101 and Kodak Gold film, a perfect combination. Expect more analogue pictures in 2013!
