A grocery shopping and cleaning day. The bread comes from Sonoma Bakery that have a beautiful little place right around the corner on Glebe Point Rd. The choice of bread is marvelous, so is the smell inside – a mix of coffee and bread. Yum. Apart from the bread I bought a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. I really enjoy all the ripe summer fruit you can get here – another thing I will impatiently wait for when I am back in Berlin.
Then the less glamorous part of staying in your own apartment in another city followed, namely cleaning and doing the laundry – I won’t say much about that. Afterwards I rewarded myself with a walk to Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Pool over at the Botanic Gardens. How beautiful and refreshing it was to swim some laps and lie in the half shade afterwards, reading a book and enjoying the view. Again I wished Berlin had more seawater pools, the Badeschiff just does not cut it.
On the way home I walked through the Botanical Gardens which is such a magic place. There was a bunch of cockatoos hovering and screaming above the greens, while a theatre company put on The Wind in the Willows throughout the garden. The Opera House was glistening in the evening sun, its surroundings were crowded by lots of people taking an evening drink, or two and I very much enjoyed the ferry ride to Darling Harbour – it’s just Sydney’s best mode of public transportation!
