Impressions from the 17-Mile Drive

Between Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea there is the 17-Mile Drive, a private street through a posh gated-community. According to the guidebook one of the most scenic routes in the United State. There are many spots that allow for amazing views on the ocean and some wildlife – hello seals!

It was a lovely drive, but nothing compared to what we were in for in Big Sur itself. Maybe it also felt a bit polished. Here are some photographs I took along the road. Enjoy.

The 17-Mile Drive is located just outside of Pacific Grove. If you want to drive it by car you will have to pay an entrance fee of $10.50. At the entrance, you will get a map with all the sights and points of interest along the road.
