I found the High St. Market & Deli in San Luis Obispo through the blog of Lucy Williams. She made a similar trip through California and highly recommended the place in this post. As San Luis Obispo is not far from Big Sur. So, it is the perfect stop for Lunch or an afternoon snack on your way down south.
After all the elephant seal watching and with no breakfast, we were starving at the time we arrived at High St. Market & Deli. The place was super crowded, but we were able to pick up our freshly made sandwiches at the cashier after mere minutes. We were also lucky to get a spot outside the Deli, where we enjoyed our delicious lunch. The sandwiches were super fresh, tasted flawless and had just about the right size for two hungry humans.
After that, we drove into San Luis Obispo for some coffee. We were quite surprised by the town. There are many hip cafés around, and the overall vibe of the city felt quite laid back and pleasant. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to hang out in San Luis Obispo for much longer.
