We picked this stop between Big Sur and Ojai quite spontaneously. I had read about this place the very same morning in our travel guide. We were intrigued by the stories about the dunes and old film sets hidden in the sand. The latter remained the least spectacular feature of the Guadalupe Dunes. Instead, it was the vastness and the extend of the dunes, the beach, the rough sea and the brown pelicans that crossed the skies above our heads, that stunned me.
It was another foggy day, but that made for an even more unique and otherworldly experience as we went for a stroll along the beach. See for yourself:
